Men’s Hoops Remains in Second in D3Hoops.com Poll

The week six edition of the D3Hoops.com Top 25 poll was released on Monday evening, and the Yellow Jackets remained in second, receiving three first place votes. R-MC won their previous 11 matchups and have started the season 13-1 and 6-0 in ODAC play.

The Yellow Jackets rang in the new year with a road win over rival Hampden-Sydney, 69-57, on Wednesday night. R-MC used a second half run to extend their lead over the Tigers and seal a win. On Saturday, R-MC hosted 24th-ranked Guilford in a conference matchup. The Lemon and Black rallied from a nine-point second half deficit to pick up a much earned 59-56 win to extend the home win streak to 56.

Previously, the Yellow Jackets were picked atop the preseason poll, and were picked eighth in the first poll release of the regular season, fifth in week two, fourth in week three, third in week four, and second in week five. After a couple big wins for the Yellow Jackets, R-MC remains in second place in the poll. The Yellow Jackets received three of the 25 possible first place votes this week.

Randolph-Macon will host a top-five matchup in Crenshaw Gym when they host 5th-ranked Christopher Newport on Wednesday night. That game will be at 8:00 p.m., right after the women’s basketball team hosts Lynchburg at 6:00 p.m.
