IN PERSON SPECIAL EVENT
What is the future of the American Legion Bridge? How can we achieve post-pandemic regional growth? Join us for the Capital Region Business Forum and find out!
On September 9th, the Northern Virginia Chamber, along with partners The Greater Washington Board of Trade and Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce, will welcome Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Governors Ralph Northam (Virginia) and Larry Hogan (Maryland) and moderator Tony Pierce, Partner, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP for the in person Capital Region Business Forum. This annual event has long been an opportunity for our key leaders to engage in a substantive conversation on the region’s business environment and top public policy issues.
Billed as a regional cooperative event, the forum is your opportunity to hear our elected leaders collaborate on issues that will touch us all. This year's live event promises to be all the more important as they discuss the region-wide impact of the following:
- COVID-19: Hear how our elected leaders are responding to the new phase of the COVID-19 pandemic and what the spread of the delta variant could mean for in-person schooling this fall. In addition, learn their plans to keep the region’s economy thriving during this latest phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- American Legion Bridge: Learn how the three leaders are collaborating on major regional projects like the American Legion Bridge.
- Regional Growth: Learn our leaders' plans to make our region the national model for economic growth in the post-pandemic world.
- Workforce Issues: Learn the latest on our leaders' efforts to build a 21st-century workforce in the region and their plans to prepare our region for the future.
The Capital Region Business Forum will be held on September 9th from 8-9:30AM at the Hilton Washington DC National Mall The Wharf. Register here.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Each month, the MetroNow Coalition publishes the Dispatch, rounding up the latest on transit in the region. The Northern Virginia Chamber is a founding member of MetroNow, which is made up of regional leaders from the business, non-profit, and advocacy communities who believe that transit is designed to bring us together —at work, school, and play. Today, we believe our collective advocacy for better transit for the Washington DC region is more important than ever. Sign up for the Dispatch now!
From this month’s Dispatch: While the waves of the COVID pandemic can be seen forming weeks ahead of time, they always catch us by surprise. Though the Delta variant has added new uncertainty for post-Labor Day plans, we won’t despair-- we’re reminded that transit is so much more than the commute! Now’s a great time for everyone in the region to think about transit and multimodal connections for every trip. Whether you’re headed to a concert, soccer game, dinner, or to visit friends— WMATA’s new service schedule, starting September 5th, will make trying transit easier than ever. Read more
