19

Virginia Commonwealth University issued the following announcement on Nov. 4

The National Association of College Auxiliary Services, a professional trade association that supports the nonacademic segments of higher education, such as food services, bookstores, housing and transportation, has named Diane Reynolds, assistant vice president for business services at Virginia Commonwealth University, as the 2021 recipient of its Robert F. Newton Award for Distinguished Service.

“I am so honored and touched by this recognition. I’ve been involved with NACAS since I began at VCU,” Reynolds said in a news release. “This was a surprise and truly a shock for me. It has been an honor to work with my colleagues, NACAS members, staff and business partners. I have made lifelong friends, and these are people that I count on in challenging times when faced with dilemmas. Someone in NACAS has been through a similar issue and is always willing to help.”

The award is the organization’s most prestigious recognition of an individual who has displayed extraordinary and outstanding service to NACAS and the profession.

“Diane’s reputation precedes her,” said NACAS CEO Matthew Marcial. “From her initial time as a member to becoming president of the Board of Directors [in 2016], she has shown outstanding service and leadership for NACAS members, VCU students and staff. Diane became involved with NACAS soon after she began her career, and has truly displayed extraordinary service to NACAS, the auxiliary services industry and higher education in her career. She embodies the description of the Robert F. Newton Award for Distinguished Service.”
