Randolph - Macon College issued the following announcement on Nov. 4
The 2021-22 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll has been released and Randolph-Macon is picked to finish second in the 12-team field. The Yellow Jackets, under the guidance of second year head coach Lindsey Burke, received 105 points and two of the 12 first place votes in the process.
The Lemon and Black went unbeaten through four games in its COVID-shortened season this past spring season. By the end of that stretch the Jackets were receiving votes in the national polls.
The top pick once again this year is Roanoke who received 118 points and nine first place votes. The Maroons were one of the four teams RMC faced last year. The Jackets came away with an 82-67 win at home to improve to 2-0.
Washington & Lee was picked third with 95 points, just ahead of Shenandoah which sits in fourth with 91 points. Lynchburg, last year's tournament champion, completes the top five with 84 points and the remaining first place vote.
Bridgewater, Guilford, Virginia Wesleyan, Randolph and Ferrum round out the top 10. Eastern Mennonite and Hollins fill out the rest of the poll.
The Yellow Jackets' season gets underway this Sunday when they host Lycoming. Tip-off is set for noon. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased through Ticket Spicket. Children 12 and under are admitted free.
