Randolph - Macon College issued the following announcement on Nov. 14
Randolph-Macon sophomore quarterback Brecht Heuchan (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay) has been selected as the ODAC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the win over Hampden-Sydney.
Heuchan completed 15 of 21 passes against the Tigers. He recorded season highs with 265 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.
Midway through the second quarter, the Yellow Jackets held a 10-7 lead and took over on their own 19 following a punt. Heuchan hit junior David Wallis (Cedar Point, N.C./Croatan) with an 81-yard scoring strike that gave R-MC a 17-7 lead.
Heuchan found Wallis in the end zone from 14 yards out with 13 seconds left in the second period as the Yellow Jackets led 27-7 at halftime.
On the final play of the third quarter, Heuchan connected with senior Joey Hunt (Olney, Md./Sherwood) on a 33-yard TD pass to put R-MC up 37-7 on its way to a 37-14 victory.
For the season, Heuchan had completed 66 of 94 passes (70.2%) for 1,287 yards and 10 touchdowns. His passing efficiency is 218.2.
Randolph-Macon improved to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in ODAC play, tying for the top spot in the conference standings. The Yellow Jackets have beaten the Tigers in eight straight games and 10 of the past 11 meetings. R-MC will learn at 5:30 p.m. this afternoon if it receives an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
