Colonial Athletic Association issued the following announcement on Dec. 27
Four Colonial Athletic Association lacrosse programs earned preseason recognition in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine preseason top 20 polls, the publication announced Monday.
On the men’s side, Delaware leads CAA teams with a No. 16 preseason ranking from USA Lacrosse Magazine, while Drexel is No. 17. Delaware earned the CAA regular-season championship in 2021, while Drexel captured the CAA tournament title with a 15-11 win over Hofstra before giving No. 4 national seed Notre Dame a scare in the NCAA First Round.
James Madison leads two women’s programs in the preseason top 20 with the Dukes at No. 12. Drexel also earns a preseason ranking at the No. 17 spot. The Dukes won the CAA title over the Dragons in overtime last May and collected an NCAA Tournament win over Johns Hopkins, while Drexel collected the CAA regular-season title and earned an NCAA Tournament at-large selection. The CAA was tied for second among all Division I conferences in 2021 with four teams in the tournament field.
