Venue: Perry Field

Records: R-MC 14-5, 4-2 ODAC; VWU 10-10-1, 2-5-1 ODAC

How It Happened:

  • The Yellow Jackets started the scoring in the top of the first. Myers drew a leadoff walk and went to second on a walk to sophomore Hunter Cole (Norfolk, Va./Granby). Myers moved to third on a fielder's choice and came home on a base hit by sophomore Myles Webb (Norfolk, Va./Granby) to give the visitors a 1-0 edge.
  • The Marlins tallied single runs in the first and second before R-MC responded in the fifth. Sophomore Grayson Bush (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) started the inning with a walk and advanced to third when Myers reached on an error. A groundout by junior Ethan Iannuzzi (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby) brought in Bush with the tying run. Webb singled to knock in Myers as the Yellow Jackets reclaimed the lead at 3-2. Senior Spencer Pietruszynski (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) reached on an error. Junior Carter Johnson (Southampton, Va./Southampton) delivered a double to plate Webb and Pietruszynski, extending the lead to 5-2. A single by freshman Lincoln Lubsen (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy) drove in Johnson to make it 6-2.
  • The Yellow Jackets finished the scoring in the sixth. Myers coaxed a leadoff walk, stole second, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a sacrifice fly by Iannuzzi to make the final 7-2.
  • Ramos earned the win in relief, tossing five scoreless innings with four hits, one walk and seven strikeouts to improve to 2-0.
