Jones, Brooks, Pace R-MC Men’s Golf at ODAC Championship

Junior Austin Brooks (Matthews, N.C./Carmel Christian) and freshman Daniel Jones (Greensboro, N.C./Bishop McGuinness) both shot three-over 74 in Friday's first round of the ODAC Championship.

The Basics

Dates: Friday, April 29 & Saturday, April 30

Venue: Old Trail Golf Club

Host: Old Dominion Athletic Conference

Team Standings: The Yellow Jackets are seventh out of 11 teams.

Players: Brooks posted an eagle on the 495-yard par 5 No. 14. He had two birdies, one on No. 8 and one on No. 17. Brooks had nine pars in his round. He shot 3-over 39 on the front and even-par 35 on the back.

Jones posted one birdie, coming on No. 11. He had 13 pars. Jones was one-over on the front, with eight pars and one bogey. Jones and Brooks are tied for 20th out of 55 individuals.

Senior Peyton Butts (Goochland, Va./Goochland) was three shots behind Brooks and Jones at six-over 77. He had 12 pars and six bogeys. Butts was three-over on the front and three-over on the back.

Junior Nathan Wright (Sagaponack, N.Y./East Hampton) one stroke behind Butts at seven-over 78. He was five-over on the front and just two-over on the back. Wright had three consecutive birdies on 14, 15 & 16. He had five pars on the day.

Junior Nick Schnur (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Germantown Academy) shot 82. He had a birdie on No. 14. Schnur had eight pars, including six on the front.

The second and third rounds of the three-round event will be played on Saturday, April 30.
