Three Diamond Jackets Receive All-Region Accolades

Three members of the Randolph-Macon baseball team earned All-Region honors from D3baseball.com.

Junior third baseman Carter Johnson (Southampton, Va./Southampton) and sophomore DH Hunter Cole (Norfolk, Va./Granby) were named All-Region Second Team. Sophomore pitcher Drew Ramos (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) picked up a spot on the All-Region Third Team.

Johnson was All-ODAC First Team. He was seventh in the ODAC with a batting average of .381. Johnson had an on-base percentage of .448 and slugging percentage of .579, which was 10th in the conference. He had 48 hits with 29 runs and 33 RBI. Johnson put together a 23-game hitting streak during the season, a program record.

Cole was also All-ODAC First Team. He led the ODAC with a batting average of .424. Cole was second in the league with a slugging percentage of .728 and second with an on-base percentage of .508. Cole had 64 hits with nine doubles, five triples and nine home runs. Cole scored 42 runs and knocked in 46.

Ramos made 11 appearances with nine starts. He went 4-0 with an ERA of 3.09, the seventh-best ERA in the league. Ramos had 71 strikeouts in 46.2 innings, the fourth highest total in the conference. His ratio of 13.69 strikeouts per nine innings was the third best in the ODAC.

Randolph-Macon was 26-12 overall and went 14-6 in ODAC play, finishing third in the conference standings. The Yellow Jackets had a team batting average of .344, first in the ODAC and seventh in the nation. R-MC is seventh in the country with 2.68 doubles per game and 10th with a team slugging percentage of .531.
