Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Welcome Nine Trojan Family Members

Virginia State Head Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Coach Wilbert Johnson welcome nine Trojan family members as the squad looks to bring some firepower to an already stacked women's team. The last time the women's team hoisted a CIAA Championship trophy was in 2018-2019 after winning the Indoor Championship.

"This very well may be the most talented class of women I have ever recruited," said Coach Johnson. "We already had a very strong team last season, we were just low on numbers so, not only did we add depth, we added nine explosive individuals to help lead us back to the top of the CIAA."

The 2022 signing class consists of Desairey Gray, Miracle Price, Elisha Barnes, Jaelyn Walker – Hill, Imari Deloatch, Aanya Howard , Emoni Coleman, Devyn Collier and Ayanna Otey.  Per usual, Coach Johnson stayed in the state of Virginia to recruit most his talent as six of the nine newcomers are from the 804 or the 757. The rest of the 2022 signing class hails from North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Georgia. Coach Johnson recruited a diverse class as he addressed sprinting, distance and jumping events.

The Women's Cross Country season will commence on September 3 in the Spider Alumni Open on the campus of University of Richmond at 8:00 a.m.
