Patriots Finish Fifth at River Run Collegiate
The George Mason golf team finished tied for fifth place for the second straight year at the River Run Collegiate held in North Carolina.
Mason recorded its best round of the tournament today with a 290 team score to finish tied for fifth place with Appalachian State. The Patriots finished one stroke behind fourth place Radford and four strokes behind third place Dayton in the 17-team tournament.
Host Davidson had the best team score (277) of the day by nine strokes to come from behind to clinch the team title. The Wildcats were in seventh place heading into the final round. East Carolina led after two rounds and finished two strokes back to earn runner-up honors.
For the second consecutive year, JP Miller finished even-par on the 7,317-yard, par-72 River Run Country Club to lead Mason. The grad student finished 10th among the 100 golfers, his third straight tournament with a top 15 finish. Miller had six birdies in the round, but four holes over par brought him back to even.
Sophomore Seth Conway finished t-27 after a one-over-par 73 today. Freshman Samir Davidov fought his way up the leaderboard with a one-under-par 71 today to finish t-32.
