Carr, Brooks Under Par in Final Day of Royal Lakes Invitational

Jay Carr (Blackstone, Va./Nottoway) and Austin Brooks (Matthews, N.C./Carmel Christian) shined in the final round of the Royal Lakes Invitational, as Carr carded a 69 (-3) and Brooks added a 70 (-2) himself. The charge, led by Carr and Brooks, resulted in Randolph-Macon moving up four spots in the loaded field.

Dates: Monday, October 10 and Tuesday, October 11

Venue: Flowery Branch, Georgia (Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club – 6717 yards)

Host: Oglethorpe University

Senior Peyton Butts (Goochland, Va./Goochland) finished strong as well, carding a 76 (+4) to match his round one performance while Daniel Jones (Greensboro, N.C./Bishop McGuinness) finished with a final-round 77 (+5) to surge as well. Ryder Duncan (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephens & St. Agnes) rounded-out the Yellow Jacket line-up with an 88 (+16) in the final 18 holes.

The Yellow Jackets started the day sixth-best in terms of the eight Old Dominion Athletic Conference schools competing in the event, but the strong final round saw R-MC move four spots overall, one of those being another ODAC school. The final round 292 was also among the top team scores in the final 18 holes.

Head Coach Jay Albaugh and his bunch will be back in action for the final scheduled event in the fall segment as they travel to Greensboro, N.C. to compete in the O'Bryant Jensen Memorial Monday, October 31 and Tuesday, November 1. The event will take place at The Cardinal Golf Club and is hosted by Greensboro College.
