Men's Golf Finishes Fall Segment at O'Briant Jensen Memorial

Austin Brooks (Matthews, N.C./Carmel Christian) shined in the final tournament of the fall season Monday and Tuesday, carding a two-round 146 after a 73 (+1) in each of the two rounds. Randolph-Macon finished the event with a final round 299 to climb a handful of spots on the final day in a field that featured nine nationally-ranked programs.

Tournament: O'Briant Jensen Memorial

Dates: Monday, October 31-Tuesday, November 1

Venue: Greensboro, North Carolina (The Cardinal by Pete Dye – 6755 yards)

Host: Guilford College

Daniel Jones (Greensboro, N.C./Bishop McGuinness) finished with a final-round 74 (+2) to surge as well and finish strong behind Brooks while Jay Carr (Blackstone, Va./Nottoway) carded a second-round 78 (+6) to end just two strokes shy of Jones. Peyton Butts (Goochland, Va./Goochland) and Nick Schnur (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Germantown Academy) each carded a final-round 76 (+4) to round out the Yellow Jackets card.

No. 7 Christopher Newport took the team title home as the only team to not finish the event over par at an even 568 while No. 2 Methodist finished second with a combined 576 (+8). The hosts, No. 15 Guilford, rounded out the top three after surging up seven spots on the final day to finish three shots better of No. 8 Carnegie Mellon and four shots better than the nation's top team, Emory.

Head Coach Jay Albaugh and his bunch have now ended the fall segment of the season and will return after the Winter for more events in the spring. That schedule will be released at a later date at rmcathletics.com.
