Lancaster Middle School in Lancaster County welcomed most students in 2023-24 school year

Lancaster Middle School had the highest enrollment among Lancaster County schools, welcoming 541 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed at the time, 50.6% of them were female, and 49.4% were male.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black, representing 53.2% of Lancaster Middle School's total enrollment.

Among the two schools in Lancaster County, Lancaster High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 408 students.

Lancaster Middle School is part of Lancaster County Public Schools District, which roughly covers schools within Lancaster County, with its main office in Kilmarnock.

In the previous school year, Lancaster High School had the highest number of students among Lancaster County schools.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
