There were 177 9th-grade students enrolled in Westmoreland County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 4.3% fewer than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

The school that enrolled the largest number of 9th-grade students in the county was Washington & Lee High School.

Within Westmoreland County schools, the largest number of students were found in 2nd-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Westmoreland County ranked 91st in enrollment numbers. It was ranked 92nd the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
